KEYS N KRATES in URB' NEXT 100
So its been almost 2 years since Flo,Tune and I first went into a grungy rehearsal room, jammed out our very first live remix and started this run together as Keys N Krates. Its been sick to see how many people have taken to what we're doing and how far musically we've come.
A year and a half ago we played our first show in Toronto and were just hyped and relieved that people got what we were doing. This month we've been featured as one of the top new 100 artists in the world. Pick up a copy of URB's prestigious 'Next 100' issue this month and there we are.
Thanks to all of our fans, our families and to everybody that has supported us along the way. Honourable mention goes to the broken equipment, grimey road trips, exhausting rehearsals and sleepless nights as well.
This is a tremendous honor for us. YAAAHHH

GOOD ASS MUSIC: PASSION PIT X CALVIN HARRIS
Yah so Passion Pit are one of my favorite bands right now. Calvin Harris is also a ridiculous artist on the new disco tip, responsible for bangers such as "colors", "acceptable in the 80s", the Ting Tings remix he did that I loved so much, and a bunch of other stuff. Here's Calvin's remix of Passion Pit's banger of a track "The Reeling". Disco bassline x punchy epic synths. I like. If you're not up on Calvin Harris and/or Passion Pit,,, get familiar, not that either of them are a secret.

CLASSIC MATERIAL
Ever remember where all those hoooos and heys come from on every rap song. Well maybe not on every rap song,, but a lot of them.
ALL THE WAY LIVE
Love the sound of the band in this one. Mark Ronson's sound has always been retarded. Wish I could've experienced this live.

SOME CLASSIC SHIITT
Aaah Curtis. I remember when I first got into Curtis mayfield and his music. I picked up one of his "best of" Cd's at some record store for $5 dollars. I was looking to learn more about funk grooves and arranging and somebody had told me to grab his shit. One listen to curtis and my idea of music and songwriting would be changed from that point on. This is one of his masterpieces live. Soul brothaaaaaaa

THANK YOU
Mannn
I'm back at home in T.O and we just back from NYC and our 3 shows we did over the weekend. We ended it of with a double header: 2 shows in 2 countries yesterday.
We hit the Brooklyn Street festival in the day and did our thing at 1pm. To all the people that came up to us after the show, thanks 4 the luv.
Then it was off to the La guardia airport to catch our flight to get us back to T.O so we could land and then drive an hr and a half out to London ON, for our gig that night at the Taphouse.
I'm exhausted but feeling good cause we made it down on time even though we had to stop and chew on some nasty Mckee D's on the way. For any of you that know me well, you know that London is actually my TRUE hometown. I saw some old friends and my moms and pops came out to see the show. My moms hasn't been in a night club in an eternity so it was hilarious and at the same time special to see her there. All this time she hadn't seen what Keys N krates does live yet and it was impossible trying to explain to her what it was all about. Shouts out to my mom for coming out last night.
MA I LOVE YOU. GLAD YOU WERE THERE
Shout outs to Eclectic method for sharing the show with us in NYC if you haven't seen or heard of Eclectic method you need to read up on them and check their video remixes out HERE
NEXT UP !!!

We're letting this audio off to bunch of blogs this week, but we of course wanted to post it here first. This is a kind of our tribute to the almighty Tribe,, but of course we had to flip it Keys N Krates style. Enjoy!

PASSION PIT - LITTLE SECRET
These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite new acts. Nice to hear people making real ass songs but still keeping it fun and dancey. Remember songs guys? lol. This song is going to be a summer banger. Peep their other tracks such as "The Reeling" which I may just have to post. Support this band!!! Good music for your soul.

FORMAT MAGAZINE INTERVIEW WITH KEYS N KRATES
So this dope online magazine that apparently has gotten a lot of Kanyeezy love just did an interview with us in their column entitled "The Daily Bread." Interview came out pretty funny and kinda reflects all our individual personalities. Peep it.

DAM FUNK INTERVIEW
Nothing's real in L.A. (english version) from laszlo colombani on Vimeo.
Interview with Dam Funk on Interlude Radio in Belgium. I love this dude and everything he stands for. If you don't know about Dam Funk, he's signed to Stones Throw Records. His vibe is kinda taking that 80s Rnb/soul/funk vibe and modernizing it. Here he talks about the vibe of his music and where it comes from which by no surprise has both hood and galactic elements. Hotness!

WEEZY, JIGGA, YEEZY ?
Before there was Weezy, Jigga and Yeezy there was this. When I was first shown this clip I couldn't believe my eyes. James Brown MJ and Prince on the same stage??? I never got a chance to see any of these guys live in their prime but this video almost is enough. I used to watch all 3 of these men and study their moves and try to duplicate them. Well...actually not Prince,, he's on his own planet... If you watch this clip please watch it to the very end. WTF is Prince doing??? CLASSSSICCCC

CHRISTIAN RICH - FAMOUS GIRL
Our homies Christian Rich just dropped their first video. Real proud of these dudes. I see big things on the horizon for them. Peep their myspace site for other dope joints like "Stacks" or "Ski Hard" which is a collabo between them and Armand Van Helden. Wowoweeeee. Look out for future collabs between Christian Rich and Keys N Krates. Only a matter of time. Loooock iiiiiiin.

HEARTY MAGAZINE FEATURE: KEYS N KRATES
So the good people over at Hearty Magazine approached us to do a little feature on us called "I Heart ____".... Last month the blank was Colin Munroe,, this month it's us. The interview was pretty funny since none of could figure out how to 3-way call, forcing us to hold phones up to one another to get a proper conference call going. Definitely stay up with Hearty. Not many cool girls magazines like this in my opinion.

CHROMEO ON YO GABBA GABBA
My main goal is for us to be on this show one day. So ill. Chromeo totally murders it.

KEYS N KRATES - CITY OF AWARDS (LIVE FOOTAGE) SNEAK PEAK
We're about to drop an Mp3 of our Tribe Rmx we call "City Of Awards" .... But to give you a little teaser,, here's us doin it live at our Canadian Music Week in Toronto a couple months back.
CLASSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC
Sorry... one more 90s joint. Classic joint... Let it all hang out by A.D.O.R. Of course produced by Pete Rock the master of the horns, The chorus scratches (next to Primo) one of my favorite producers of all time. Don't get me started on the Main Ingredient album. That's another post. Loooock in!
CLAAAASSIIIIIIIIIIC:
This youtube clips gives me goosebumps. All these 90s clips remind me of when I first started djing in 9th grade.... takin the bus and subway from the burbs to Play De Record and Traxx Records, downtown Toronto and spending all of my money on records.... I think Dres is one of the funkiest rappers of all time,, peepgame in this clip. Flavor!
